Perfect Game

Thought of the Day… “What is once well done is done forever.” -Henry David Thoreau

WOW! The Offspring’s final game of the regular season was exciting…. AND NERVE WRACKING!

If we won we’d be third in the league; lose and we’d be fourth (assuming the team we were tired with third wins, which they did). The big difference is fourth’s first game of the playoffs is against the best team in the STATE! Difficult, but possible, to beat.

Before I come to the end of the game, let me share some of the photos from the game…

Remember SillyOne from my “Hard work pays off” post? Well… she was just waiting to see me with my camera! She enjoyed the “fame” of being included so prominently on my blog…

Not sure what The Offspring and SillyOne are talking about, but at least they’re smiling…

IMG_1696-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

They have a “pinky” thing they do… not sure what it’s all about but it’s their thing…

The Offspring had some hard hits… Nice hit, Sweetie!

I love it when I am able to catch bats, balls and other equipment in the air… the look of “floating” is fun.

In this one, The Offspring is what is in the air… both feet are off the ground…

I managed to get it a couple of times in this game… Here the bat is “floating”…

Well… now back to the end of the game… we WON! Final score 1-0.

Not only did we win… our pitcher had a PERFECT GAME!! For those who don’t know the details of softball (or baseball) this means 21 outs (softball plays seven innings) with no opposing team members reaching a base (either on error, walk or hit). Perfect Games are RARE. Our head coach has been coaching for 35 years and has only coached [now] THREE Perfect Games.

WOW!

The pitcher was so focused on doing her job that she didn’t realize that she had pitched a Perfect Game. As soon as the last out occurred The Offspring was so excited for our pitcher because she knows how special it is… she is a former pitcher who had a near Perfect Game at age 10 (one runner reached first on a hit by pitch). The Offspring ran to the pitcher and threw her arms around her and said, “You pitched a Perfect Game!” The pitcher looked surprised and then it registered.

After the girls congratulated the opposing for a “good game”… the girls got together for a picture…

Please bear with me as I share several pictures… what you need to watch for is SillyOne… see her in the far right of this picture… she must be thinking, “Oh… photo-op time!”…

IMG_1769-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

Now look at her… she’s trying to sneak up on them…

IMG_1772-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

Watch out… here she comes…

IMG_1773-2010-05-15-14-35.jpgIMG_1774-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

She just keeps on walking… (I’m thinking… oh no… she’s going to block The Offspring again…)

IMG_1775-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

Nope, not this time… But as you can see the girls aren’t going to let her stay… they start pushing her out of the way…

IMG_1778-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

But she is having too much fun…

IMG_1779-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

She keeps on going… But The Offpsring’s like, “Hey, SillyOne get back here…”

IMG_1780-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

I bet The Offspring wishes she’d let SillyOne keep going…

IMG_1782-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

Then The Offspring puts her in a “headlock”…

IMG_1783-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

Whew… I’m sure you’re glad that’s over… Needless-to-say, it was quite funny!!!! Everyone was cracking up.

Here’s where our pitcher received the game ball… proud head coach and assistant coach looking on…

Perfect Game smile … GREAT JOB!!!!

IMG_1791-2010-05-15-14-35.jpg

Then… her teammates decided to congratulate her… While I’m thinking… “Don’t crush her… we need her next week!”

Next stop… State Playoffs next Friday! WOW! (sorry I’m repeating myself)
