Baby Steps, Day 4 and Day 5

Thought of the Day…We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive. ~C.S. Lewis

I had full intentions of posting my Baby Steps, Day 4 post yesterday, but I popped my thumb open and it hurt so I didn’t get around to it. So forgive me for combining two days…

Don’t know about my Baby Step process? Take a look at my Baby Steps, Day 1

Baby Steps, Day 4 is

  1. Get up and dressed – YEP
  2. Keep your sink shining – YEP
  3. Go to Big Tent and read messages – YEP
  4. Write things down on sticky notes to start my Control Journal– YEP

I wrote down three things a couple of times…

…and stuck them around the kitchen. Three on the window with my Shiny Sink sign from Baby Steps, Day 1

…I also put one on the refrigerator and one on the mirror in the downstairs bathroom.

I worked from home today, so if I went to get a glass of water from fridge, I saw the sticky and the above three when I stood at sink. 😀 When The Offspring got up she asked, “What’s with all the post-it notes?”

I explained that they are to help me get motivated to complete my Baby Steps, Day 5. She said, “Oh.” (such enthusiasm, eh? 😉 )

Baby Steps, Day 5 is

  1. Get up and dressed – YEP
  2. Keep your sink shining – YEP
  3. Go to Big Tent and read messages – YEP
  4. Look at sticky notes in the kitchen and bathroom – YEP
  5. Hearing any nagging negative voices popping into your head? Write them down and turn those words around and say something nice to yourself to cancel out those the discouraging words. – YEP (I’m doing as Nicole suggested in her comment on Baby Steps, Day 3– write them in my blog)

After I got off work, I fixed dinner (salmon, tortellini and sautéed green beans and squash). Yep, I took photos and will be posting an In the Kitchen post in the next few days. 😉

After dinner, while The Offspring cleared the table and put leftovers away I washed the dishes. When she was done with the leftovers, I asked her to take 5 minutes and pickup 27 things. She happily obliged…. I still have stuff on the table, but here’s the spot she cleared off. 🙂

THANK YOU, Offspring!! 😀 (trivia… this table used to be my grandparent’s. Mom get nostalgic when she visits…)

As I said, I still have stuff to pickup (I worked from home today)…

After finishing all the dishes and cleaning the stove, counter and making the sink shine again, I sat down and put my feet up and was wiped from my day.

The little voice in my head was saying, “You need to do your 27 things.” over and over and over… I started saying it out loud… The Offspring tried to let me off the hook by saying, “I did them for you.” It was so sweet of her, but I wanted to also do them… that way we would have 54 things picked up. Man that sounds like a ton! Well… junk mail piles up… I still needed to go through the pile from our vacation the end of June/beginning of July … please don’t judge me…

I know you’re not judging me… I am judging myself!! But remember what my blog name is? Too Much To Do; So LIttle Time

I got up and started going through the stack… I got to 27 and only had a few more to go and refused to stop… I had 34 things in the pile. Guess what?!?!

…the pile is GONE from the counter…

YES, there is still stuff along the back and near the dish drainer, but that’s for another time. Admittedly, I have some things to file from our pickup time, but it is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more manageable!!

Thank you, Sweetie, for helping me!!! I LOVE YOU!

Day 6, Hot Spots is next…

Did I surprise you? Did you think I would stick with it? Did you get any Baby Steps completed? I’d love to hear from you!
