Slice Bell Pepper and Avoid Seeds
Thought of the Day…Parrots make great pets. They have more personality than goldfish. ~Chevy Chase
Do you ever get frustrated with bell pepper seeds when you’re slicing and/or dicing a bell pepper? Do you start by cutting in and around the stem and then dealing with the leftover seeds? I used, too. But never fear… there’s an easier way!
Just like yesterday’s Cut onion without tears post, this is post is “prep” for a recipe I will be sharing in a few days. 😉
Before we begin, sharpen your knife. It is very important to always start with a sharp knife.
First cut off the stem
Next stand the pepper on it’s top
Now take your knife and slice inside each lobe, around the seeds in the center
Rotate pepper and continue slicing inside each lobe
When you are finished, the center will remain with the seeds “contained”. (sometimes I carefully cut the little bit of flesh remaining around the stem area)
Toss the center into your compost pail and proceed with slicing and/or dicing. Be sure to slice and dice from the inside of the pepper and not from the outside.
Have you seen this method before? If not, give it a try and come back and let me know how it goes.
Do you have a different method?
P.S. I realize that today’s quote has nothing to do with today’s quote… I just thought it was funny. 😉
nope never tried it but seen it done. Rachael Ray always cuts it in half and then pulls out the center.
I do that if I’m going to do stuffed bell peppers… Hmmmm… sounds good. 😉
