What I Am Thankful for This Year
Thanksgiving is Mama’s “holiday”. Yes, she loves Christmas, but Thanksgiving is a time to remember everything and everyone who have blessed our lives.
I thought I would give you a few things that I am thankful for this year…
Like many, I am thankful for my family. I really hate living so far away from my family, but thanks to the internet and cheap phone calls, I can stay in touch. For each of you, please know that you are not far from my thoughts even though you are far in distance.
My in-laws are so wonderful. We don’t get to see you as much as we’d like, but it’s great to see you when we do. I love this time a year because we get to see you twice in nearly a month! We truly hope that you can visit more. I know you’re busy and with our crazy schedule it is so hard for us to get to your place. (See you later today! 😉 )
Our “adoptive” family – Ma and Pa… the two of you have welcomed us into your lives. I can’t believe we started out as neighbors nearly 17 years ago and now we’re family. I can’t imagine what our lives would be like without you in it.
My friends, thank you for being there when I need you; especially a few weeks ago during my Life Altering Event.
Two of the people in my life I am most thankful for are Hubby and The Offspring. You two are my life and I would be empty without you.
I’ve really missed The Offspring! She came home yesterday from college for their Thanksgiving Break. 😀 It’s soooo GREAT to see her! I don’t know if she knows really how much I have missed her.
It doesn’t seem like two months since we dropped her off at college. She seems to be doing great with life’s Training Wheels.
First I surprised her by running out the front door, camera in hand, and snapping a ton of photos… Most of them, OK all of them, are out of focus, so I decided to through this into a sequential collage… you can get how this went down… 😉
The Offspring was a bit embarrassed, but her roommate Katie was sure happy to see me… well, she is my “BFFL”! At least that’s what each of our cell phones have next to one another’s names. (Update [27-Nov]: “BFFL” = Best Friend For Life)
Wanna know something amazing??? The Offspring and Katie were randomly chosen as roommates. Not so odd; but the fact that they have been friends for over 9 years, even though they didn’t go to the same high school and played on the same travel softball team for 6 years when they were younger… that’s what’s so odd. Random… WOW!
Oooops… I got off track a bit there. Actually, no I didn’t…
I am SO thankful that The Offspring has such a GREAT roommate and they have been able to reconnect and experience college together! Happy Thanksgiving, Katie! 😀
When The Offspring arrived, she got a special surprise… when she walked in the door I had her favorite Thanksgiving recipe in the oven… my pumpkin bread. I have to admit… it’s awesome! I receive lots of requests to make it this time of year. In fact, The Offspring is taking some back to college for her roommate and friends across the hall. She told them that it was even better than my Zucchini Bread they had last month. They can’t wait! 😀
I thought I would share the recipe with it with you on this Thanksgiving, but since so many of you are buried with Thanksgiving today I thought I would put it off for a few days. I promise I will share!
Happy Thanksgiving!
For what are you thankful for this year?
I love you to tears! Yes, I love my children beyond words. I love knowing that when my own parents were in their years near graduation to our creator and master, they still loved us and were showed pride for each of us as unique individuals. Yes, this is Mama’s special holiday. I remember, too, that it was the once a year that Daddy would ask a neighbor to milk the cows one of the two daily times and we went to Grandma’s, a four hour drive and Mama’s Mama.
I love the five corn kernel tradition that we started not so terribly many years ago. I love the sweetness of the Thanksgiving Tree tradition that your sister started this year. These things must hold special weight for me this year as we are all scattered far and wide. I love that God has sent me a family, both of blood and of faith, that encourages me when I am in need. He sees our hearts and knows our minds. His ways are beyond our understanding. But they are true and the glory belongs to God. We are his instruments.
English Standard Version (©2001)
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Thank you, Stef, for your encouragement and blessings. May God be with you all today.
Mama
The collage is fantastic!
The subject is fantastic!
I love you all!
Love you, too, Mama!
We love you, too and I cannot imagine looking across the pasture and not seeing the many familiar signs of your presence. God sent you into our lives for a reason and I think it is to bring us happiness and love, lots of laughs and sad times, too, but for all of that we are most grateful. You have always been there for us in some very challenging times, it was your faith in us that helped us to survive.
And like any good Ma would say have a wonderful Thanksgiving, be grateful you have family that love you and dear sweet Hubby drive carefully. Welcome Home Offspring Granddaughter!
Love,
Ma,
We love you two, too!
What is BFFL?
BFFL = Best Friend For Life
It’s something that she and I joked about when she and The Offspring played softball together.
