If you read my blog via Google Reader and haven’t heard the news… Google is killing it’s Google Reader effective July 1, 2013. That means you have just a little over 3 months to find a new way to read your favorite blogs.

I know a lot of people are in a tizzy over this news. It is completely understandable. It’s also why experts suggest not relying on one RSS provider.

I, too, use Google Reader, but more for the blogs that I don’t visit regularly so this doesn’t impact me that much. I read my daily favorites via email. I didn’t used to. Most of my blogs came from my mail program offering a RSS reader. When Apple removed that I got bit hard – because I didn’t pay attention and upgraded before I knew it. I still have access to my old articles, but decided that I would use actual emails for reading my favorite blogs.

Now, after the fact, I personally like this so I can filter through them, save/file them and on a very rare occasion delete the post.

The “techno-geek” in me is going to look at other options and I will share them with you, but in the meantime, look to see if your favorite blogs and news sources offer email as an option.

Never fear, you can still read my posts without even finding a new blog “reader”, because I offer email as a delivery option. 😀

I know, some of you are thinking, “I don’t want more email in my mailbox”. You have a couple of options.

1. You can find another RSS feed reader
2. You can create a Gmail account just for reading blogs. Doing this will allow you to have access to the blog posts from any internet browser or your favorite email reader.

So, for my Google Reader readers that this opportunity to subscription right now to receive my blog posts via email – just click on envelope () in the top right corner.

If you don’t use Google Reader, what do you use to read your favorite blogs?
