Not so bad, right? Actually, since we haven’t had a toilet on the main floor of our house for three-and-a-half weeks, we’ve had a Honey Bucket in our driveway…
It has come in handy… but I will admit that having the whole neighborhood aware of trips to the “little girls room” has been a bit embarrassing, but it’s better than having to use a real bucket in the driveway!
Oh yeah… going to the Honey Bucket in 41 degree weather… NOT FUN!
Strange that I never feel embarrassed when I’m using one at a softball tournament. Maybe it’s because everyone else has to, too!
With working my day job and keeping up with our remodel, I am so behind in my blog reading. I am sorry if I haven’t stopped by to visit you, but I am working my way through the posts.
On Veterans Day, Jaden from SteamyKitchen.com had a cool post and giveaway. I missed it, the giveaway, but did watch the following video. There are some really good ideas….
Do you know what to do with leftover fresh herbs?
Do you know what to do with leftover wine? Strange question, eh? Who has leftover wine?
YIPPEEEEEEEE! It’s getting exciting here on the home front!
I can’t believe I forgot to get my camera when they started the installation! Kevin was happy!
…toe-kick drawer to the left of range…
Aaron (left) and Kevin have just finished with the cabinets that replaced the old ones…
…and are now installing the new peninsula ones…
The cabinets are white. The brown end and back panels you see are where there are still pieces which still need to be installed. That will be done later…
Here is the front of the peninsula… the two on the left have toe kick drawers at the bottom, as does the one on the bottom right in the above picture.
…Another angle… Hubby went and got wine bottles to see how they fit in the wine cubby and two “normal” size bottles will fit end-to-end in each cubby. So we can store 10 bottles if we want.
Trash/Recycling bins…
Two-tier stacked cutlery drawer…
Blind-corner pull-out…
Even with the movable shelves in the “blind corner”, there is still empty space, so I will be able to store a few tall items that I rarely use.
I am getting SOOOOO excited!!! I see the light at the end of the tunnel… …too bad it’s still three weeks away!
As we’re getting closer to the end of our remodel I have been thinking about all the things I want to make in my new kitchen, but can’t decide what should be “first”. I will likely be preparing “dinner”, but then I have so much to unpack, wipe down, and clean… I may not have the energy, but I still want to plan.
By the way… this is my new range…
It is an Electrolux EW30DF65GS, it is dual-fuel (gas top, electric convection oven), dual-oven (only one oven is convection) and has 5 burners… I CANNOT WAIT!!!
Here’s where I need your help… where do I start???
Turkey (my new range has a “Turkey Timer” I want to try)
Stew
Bread
Chicken Noodle Soup – may try making my own noodles, but would have to cut by hand as I don’t have pasta machine or attachment for my mixer
UPDATE: Homemade Pizza
Desserts…
White Chocolate Chip Cookies (my recipe)
Cake Balls/Cake Pops (I adapted Bakerella’s recipe in years past, but now that I have her cookbook I want to try some variations)
Sugar cookies — I’m searching for the “perfect” sugar cookie. I found a new recipe last year that I really liked, but I want one that is soft and chewy (like a chocolate chip cookie texture) not hard like a shortbread. Any suggestions?
Pumpkin bread
Lemon loaf (Hubby’sNana’s recipe)
Gingerbread house or cookies
Red Velvet cake
Fudge (both chocolate and white chocolate – I can’t eat chocolate)
Candy Cane Kiss Cookies (adapted to not have chocolate chips)
Almost two months after the SNAFU where we found mold in our kitchen, our new cabinets arrived. Now keep in mind it didn’t take two months to get them, remember, it only took three weeks for them to arrive after we ordered them.
When the truck arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas Day. Kevin and Aaron quickly brought the boxes into the garage because rain was on the way.
Kevin and Aaron measured multiple times to make sure everything was perfect.
The first cabinet is up!
Kevin and Brad work their way around the room…
The cabinets above the sink have glass doors and had a few minor defects so we’re waiting for the cabinet company rep to come see them.
Here are the cabinets that will be over the new peninsula. These will have glass shelves and doors…
Eventually there will be crown moulding around the entire room… In the meantime, here is what the floor looks like from the other angle…
I’m anxious to get the lower cabinets in now… I hope they fit right!
