You’ll need your headphones if you’re at work. LOL!!! Do you have a Friday Funny to share? Please put it in a comment Have you ever wanted to see your name scroll across big screen at the end of a movie? Well, for as little as $25.00 your name CAN be listed in the “Special Thanks” credits for the movie Down and Dangerous.
Do you remember John T. Woods??? For those who don’t, John is my friend Phyllis’ son. He’s an actor in LA. He has starred in several television shows (NCIS, Dark Blue, 24, iCarly, The Ex List, The Forgotten and House, M.D.) and many Indie films. John is working with filmmaker Zak Forsman of The Sabi Company on a new film Down and Dangerous. Zak is doing a Kickstarter Campain for this project. A Kickstarter project is an all-or-nothing funding method to get community support and participation. People pledge money to help pay and support for production. Even a $1.00 pledge helps them. If they do not reach their goal by the deadline NO money is exchanged. They can’t and won’t start production until they get at least $30,000. There are different levels of support and for each level you receive a set of gifts. For full details, see the Kickstarter web site. You can also watch the video at the bottom of this post. You can be an Associate Producer for $1,000 or an Executive Producer for $5,000! Spread the word!! One of my greatest passions is photography. Back in 2006 Hubby bought me a Canon 20D for my birthday. I also received an amazing telephoto lens. I predominately took photos of The Offspring’s softball games. I had so many parents ask me if I would take photos for them because I was able to capture the stop-action of the rapid game of girls fastpitch softball. I created collages for our family and was quite happy. Later that fall, while I was getting my hair done my friend Kim asked me if I had thought about taking Senior Portraits. I got really nervous. What if I screwed up? I couldn’t re-capture the moments, Kim said, “Oh, you’ll do just fine. You’re a really good photographer so … will you take Nicole’s Senior Portraits?” I agreed and we booked a date. I have to admit they turned out great… especially for my first attempt. Unfortunately I took these when I was on a Windows computer and I had a hard drive crash and BOTH of my backup DVDs failed! UGH! I LOVE my Mac’s TimeMachine no more lost backups – that and two additional external drives for all my photos! Here are a couple of the photos I found on in a “postcard” I had created… Kim loved them so much and she referred me to other people. Over the last five years, almost all Senior Portraits customers are as a result of Kim’s referrals. Nicole had a baby last year. I was going to take some pregnancy photos for her, but she had complications and we ran out of time. I had hair appointment and took my camera (Nicole was the receptionist). Very good thing… Nicole had her bouncing baby boy shortly after our visit. Here is the “snapshot” (by no means was it a portrait)… I wanted to do something special for Kim and Nicole, so I worked to hide the background, shadows and bring out Nicole. I just hoped that she was happy with the results, it wasn’t my best “job”… I guess it doesn’t matter what I think… She loved it! Several years ago, I created my own Photoshop Action to create the black frame. Unfortunately, I still have to manually create the white “stroke”. I haven’t figured out how to do it automatically – still learning more complex Actions. I want to add the stroke and the title to the Action. I’ll keep you posted. Anyone interested in downloading this action?
Now that’s going to be MESSY!
I know it seems odd for someone who doesn’t read a lot (I listen to books, remember) to get an eBook reader, but what the heck… it’s FREE and so were the books. Since I registered my apps with my Amazon account, I now get Amazon Kindle emails. Had been ignoring them – again, not a “reader”; I’m a “listener”. Then one eBook caught my eye…
Well… Back in March Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Apple eBook was $10.39 and I believe the Kindle eBook was around $13.00. In my opinion, too much to spend on an ebook I didn’t know if I really wanted it. Well, guess what?! Right now you can get the book for 99 cents (until July 27 over 900 Kindle books are on sale)! YEP! Over 92% off!!! I now own the Kindle version and have it on my Mac and if so inclined can easily download it to my iPhone. Once I get the book read, I’ll let you know what I think… in my ideal world… the Kindle app would read it to me… Have you read any of the “Zombie” books? I had my second harvest yesterday… I bought Ed Hume radish seeds and chose the Sparkler and Champion radishes. They are SOOOO easy to grow. WOW! It’s been four weeks since I planted my radishes and look at these beauties! Aren’t they beautiful?!
I need to buy more seeds so I can get another crop going. Now, I just need my tomatoes to ripen and I’ll be set … I don’t plan on making cheese, but fresh veggies… Oh yeah! Do you like radishes? What about “REAL” fresh salad? |
